LONDON — ITA Airways (AZ) has resumed service at London Heathrow (LHR), with the first flight to Rome Fiumicino (FCO) departing today. The Italian flag carrier is re-establishing operations at the U.K.’s primary hub with two daily roundtrips, providing morning and afternoon departures in both directions.
ITA operated at London Heathrow (LHR) until the end of the Winter 2023/24 schedule. Its final Heathrow flights were on March 30, 2024. After this date, ITA continued London service through other airports.
ITA's Rome-London schedule
The schedule (local times) is structured as follows: FCO–LHR departs at 07:50 (arrives 09:40) and 13:50 (arrives 15:40), while LHR–FCO departs at 10:30 (arrives 14:10) and 16:30 (arrives 20:10).
ITA stated that its return to Heathrow was enabled by cooperation with the Lufthansa Group, which provided the necessary airport slots at LHR, one of Europe’s most capacity-constrained airports.
ITA also confirmed that London–Milan Linate (LIN) service will continue via London City (LCY). The LHR relaunch is a central part of ITA’s Summer 2026 plan, which includes 72 destinations and further network changes. These changes feature a new Rome–Houston (IAH) service beginning May 1, 2026, with three weekly flights, increasing to five weekly flights from June.
