American Airlines, AT&T to Offer Free Inflight Wi-Fi

DALLAS — American Airlines (AA) will upgrade the in-flight experience for its passengers enrolled in the AAdvantage loyalty program, following an announcement to introduce its new high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi at no charge, thanks to a new partnership with AT&T.

Starting January 2026, loyalty program members can look forward to enjoying free internet access on more than 2 million flights each year—the most extensive offering of free connectivity by a U.S. carrier.

American says the service will be available on all aircraft equipped with Viasat and Intelsat satellite systems, totaling around 90 percent of AA’s fleet.

This follows a trial period during which AA provided free Wi-Fi for a limited time on select routes to test the system, which is performing better than expected. AA is also set to have high-speed Wi-Fi on more than 500 regional jets by the launch date.

Joining the the airline's AAdvantage loyalty program is free.

Subjects A through C are presented in this first of three volumes. Covering topics such as the airlines of Alaska at the time of statehood and Canada's regional airlines of the 1960s, the individual histories of such carriers as Allegheny, American, Braniff, and Continental are also included in Volume One.
