DALLAS – Irish low-cost carrier (LCC) Ryanair (FR) is celebrating 25 years of flying to the leisure resort town of Biarritz (BIQ) in France.
To celebrate this milestone FR has unveiled an impressive summer program for 2024. The LCC will offer 40 weekly flights to BIQ, across 5 routes. Two brand new destinations have been added for the summer. FR will connect BIQ with Milan Bergamo (BGY) and Edinburgh (EDI).
Alongside these new destinations, FR will also increase capacity on routes from Brussels Charleroi (CRL) and London Stansted (STN) to BIQ. The LCC’s BIQ connections now span 5 countries – Belgium, England, Italy, Ireland, and Scotland – offering convenient choices for locals and visitors. The airline aims to carry nearly 200,000 passengers to BIQ this summer. The expansion will boost the local economy as well as create employment opportunities.
25 Years of Operations
Ryanair introduced flights to BIQ in 1999 with the first flight, connecting BIQ to STN. Since then, the LCC has carried nearly 4 million passengers to and from the seaside destination located in Basque Country. Elena Cabrera, Ryanair’s Communications Manager for France, commented on this quarter century milestone.
“As Europe’s leading airline, Ryanair is thrilled to celebrate 25 years of serving Biarritz. We’ve transported over 4 million passengers here since 1999. We’re delighted to launch our record-breaking summer program with 5 exciting destinations. This includes two brand new connections to Milan and Edinburgh."
FR celebrates this long-standing partnership and the impressive 21% growth expected for summer 2024.
