Philippine Airlines, Southwest Airlines Interline

MANILA – Philippine Airlines (PR), aka PAL, and Southwest Airlines (WN) have launched a new interline partnership that allows passengers to book single-ticket itineraries combining PAL’s long-haul network with Southwest’s extensive U.S. domestic system.

The agreement is now live across PAL channels and third-party booking platforms.

The partnership links PAL’s routes across the Philippines, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East with Southwest’s network of 117 U.S. airports, using shared gateways at Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Honolulu

The arrangement enables same-ticket checked-through baggage, coordinated connections, and broader access to U.S. destinations for PAL passengers.

Comments from Airline Officials

PAL VP for Revenue Management Christoph Gaertner called the deal a “seamless connection” that expands the flag carrier’s reach across the U.S.

At the same time, Southwest COO Andrew Watterson noted that the airline’s strength in California and Hawaii makes it an ideal connector for PAL’s transpacific travelers.

The move strengthens PAL’s U.S. strategy amid growing travel demand between the Philippines and North America, while giving WN new inbound international feed without operating long-haul flights.
