Philippine Airlines Leases A330s from Wamos Air

DALLAS — Philippine Airlines (PR) has signed a lease agreement with Wamos Air (EB) to secure two Airbus A330s for the upcoming peak travel season. This strategic agreement will ensure smooth operations on key routes during this high-demand period.

This lease agreement, effective June 1, 2024, is a wet lease arrangement, as reported by the Manila Standard. Therefore, EB will provide the complete aircraft package, including crew, maintenance, and insurance, to PR for a defined period of five months.

Australia Routes Benefit from Additional Capacity

The Manila-based carrier will leverage the leased Airbus A330-200s, configured with a two-class cabin layout, to increase capacity on their Manila (MNL) to Sydney (SYD) and Manila (MNL) to Melbourne (MEL) routes. This lease agreement will ensure that they have the necessary resources to meet anticipated passenger demand during the peak season.

Phillipine Airlines have assured a seamless travel experience to passengers flying on these leased A330s. PR emphasized that the onboard amenities will be comparable to those offered on their own A330s.

Passengers will also receive the same service standards, both on the ground and in-flight, that they have come to expect from PR. To further ensure brand consistency, PR cabin crew members will be on board to deliver the airline's signature hospitality.

Addressing Supply Chain Challenges

“We have additional maintenance requirements during this period due to global supply chain issues that continue to impact the industry. We see the need to temporarily add these aircraft to ensure that we have sufficient capacity to meet the demand that we are anticipating across our network,” said PR President and CEO Stanley Ng.

Wamos Air, a Spanish carrier certified by the International Air Transport Association's Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), boasts a successful record of wet-lease operations for over 50 airlines globally.

With this lease agreement in place, PR expects to handle the surge in travel demand during the peak season while maintaining its commitment to exceptional customer service.
