‍Caribbean Low-Cost Carrier Arajet Joins ALTA

DALLAS—Arajet (DM), the Dominican Republic's low-price airline, has become the most recent member of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA).
José Ricardo Botelho, executive director and CEO of ALTA, said, "We are pleased to welcome Arajet to ALTA. Its focus on democratizing air transport and its commitment to sustainability is an example of what this sector can provide to Latin America and the Caribbean. This region does not have other equally efficient and safe means of transport. It benefits job creation and opportunities for millions of people every time a plane lands at an airport in our region. We are sure that Arajet’s participation will be key to continuing to drive growth and connectivity in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

One of DM's main value propositions is "to democratize the skies of the Caribbean.” DM promotes this by offering accessible fares and opening new routes that connect the Americas.

In addition, the airline stands out for its commitment to operational efficiency and sustainability. In fact, its fleet of five Boeing 737-MAX jets has allowed Arajet to reduce fuel consumption by 14% and environmental noise by 50% compared to other single-aisle aircraft.

"Belonging to ALTA means being part of our continent’s largest aviation network,” said  Víctor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet. “This fills us with pride and opens a range of synergy opportunities with the industry to continue to grow and provide the best world-class service to all our passengers."

On its second anniversary, the airline has connected Santo Domingo (SDQ) with more than 23 destinations in 16 countries. In addition, at the CAPA 2023 awards, DM was recognized as the best new airline in the world.

With its entry into ALTA, Arajet reinforces its commitment to continue expanding its network of destinations and fleet, working with the other members of the association to contribute to sustainable growth in the region's air sector.

Arajet is the first low-price airline in the Caribbean region. It began operations in September 2022 from its base at Las Americas Airport in Santo Domingo, under its Dominican Republic air operator certificate (AOC).

Arajet operates a new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft fleet that provides safe and affordable travel to and from the Dominican Republic to various destinations in North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean.

ALTA has 50 airlines and 124 industry partners in its ranks.
