KLM to Resume Tel Aviv Flights on August 25 After Six-Month Suspension

AMSTERDAM – Today, KLM (KL) said it will resume flights between Amsterdam (AMS) and Tel Aviv (TLV) on August 25. These flights have been suspended for the past six months because of the war in the region. Crew members, however, will not overnight in Israel for the time being and will instead stay on Cyprus.

KLM is not restoring all of its Middle East routes; the airline will still not fly to Dubai (DBX) or the Saudi cities of Riyadh (RUH) and Dammam (DMM) through Oct. 24. Those flights have not been operated for several months because of the war involving Israel, the United States, and Iran.

No explanation was given as to why KL is returning to TLV while the DBX, RUH, and DMM flights remain grounded for now. The company said only that it continually adjusts its network based on “commercial and operational considerations.”

The AMS-TLV flights will include a technical stop in Larnaca, Cyprus (LCA). Crew members will overnight there before returning to AMS, avoiding the need to stay overnight in Israel, where unrest continues.

“The crew overnights in Cyprus until further notice,” the airline said.
