DALLAS — JetBlue (B6) is holding a vote to select one livery design celebrating Puerto Rico from three artists from the Caribbean territory to be painted on one of its Airbus A320 aircraft in the summer.
This is the second livery B6 has dedicated to the island following its Bluericua design back in 2018 and comes just months after the airline celebrated the opening of its new crew base at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU).
The three renowned artists, Elizabeth Barreto, Juan Gutierrez, and Natalia Nicole, have created unique designs reflecting Puerto Rico’s heritage and spirit. Now, B6 has invited the public to vote on the winning look.
Voting has already opened and will be available until March 11, with the final design being unveiled in March before it makes its way onto one of the 130 Airbus A320-200s in B6’s fleet.
Each of the three Puerto Rican artists invited for this initiative brings "a unique perspective and artistic style that reflects the spirit and heritage of Puerto Rico," and "has been compensated for their time."

B6’s Head of Marketing and Customer Support Jayne O’Brien said: “Puerto Rico has been a part of JetBlue’s story for more than 20 years, and we are proud to showcase the island’s beauty and spirit, as well as some of its outstanding artists through this new livery search.
“We take pride in connecting our customers to and from Puerto Rico, but most importantly, in celebrating the people who make the island so special. This livery represents more than just a beautiful design—it’s a tribute to the island’s resilience, creativity, and rich culture.”
“We wish we could pick all three, but we’re excited to see which design resonates most with the public and can’t wait to bring it to life.” B^ is the largest airline in Puerto Rico. Its significant base is at SJU, which serves San Juan, the archipelago's most populous city.
Governor of Puerto Rico Jenniffer González added: “We appreciate JetBlue’s continued commitment to Puerto Rico, now dedicating a second aircraft to showcase our Island’s distinctive heritage.
“This initiative not only strengthens our long-time partnership with the airline but also provides an incredible platform for our talented artists.
“We encourage everyone to participate and vote to help select a design that will proudly represent our culture in the skies.”
The carrier has served the island of Puerto Rico for more than 22 years and opened its first-ever crew base outside of the continental United States at SJU in December.
The expansion will create more than 400 jobs and help B6 better serve its 18 destinations from SJU. The airline expects pilots to be based at the airport starting in spring this year.
JetBlue also hopes to boost tourism, create jobs, and support cultural preservation in Puerto Rico. It recently expanded its network at SJU, adding more flights between the island and significant US mainland cities.
The Puerto Rico Tourism Company Executive Director, Willamette Robles, said of the aircraft livery design competition: “We are excited to support this effort, which celebrates Puerto Rico’s cultural richness and artistic talent.
“Showcasing our Island on another JetBlue aircraft will enhance our visibility in other markets, reinforcing our identity as a top destination in the Caribbean.
“This is a unique opportunity to promote creativity while sharing our story with travelers everywhere.”
