DALLAS — Earlier today, Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific (CX) announced that commencing June 16, 2025, the airline will operate flights from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Munich Airport (MUC). MUC will be CX’s second German destination, in addition to Frankfurt (FRA), and its tenth European destination.
The airline will fly this route four times a week, at around noon, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with their Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
Cathay’s A350s can carry up to 280 passengers: 38 in Business, 28 in Premium Economy, and 214 in Economy Class.
The flag carrier will be the eighth Oriental carrier to fly into Germany’s second-largest airport. It will join Air China (CA), ANA All Nippon Airways (NH), EVA Air (BR), THAI Airways International (TG), Singapore Airlines (SQ), and Vietnam Airlines (VN).
Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport, expressed his optimism that "the fact that Cathay Pacific has chosen Munich Airport shows both the appreciation of our airport and the attractiveness and pulling power of the state of Bavaria. The reconnection with the economic metropolis of Hong Kong via the home carrier Cathay Pacific is a great success."
Cathay’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, said, “These flights will provide our customers with a direct connection between our home city and one of Europe’s most important economic, tourism, and transportation centers.”
