DALLAS — Wizz Air (W6) will introduce scheduled services from Budapest (BUD) to Girona (GRO), Genoa (GOA), Marrakesh (RAK), and Memmingen (FMM). These routes will initially be offered on a seasonal basis. It is not yet known whether they will be continued beyond winter.
Flights to GRO commence on October 28 and will be operated three times a week: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Services between BUD and GOA will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from October 29.
The Hungarian ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) will introduce flights to RAK in Morocco on October 29. This route will be operated twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The carrier already offers services to RAK from London (LGW), Milan (MIL), Rome (ROM) and Warsaw (WAW).
Then, in December, the budget carrier will start flying to FMM in Germany. The service will commence on December 17 and will operate four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Wizz Air Route Expansion
Wizz Air will also add flights between BUD and Tel Aviv (TLV), Istanbul (IST), Milan (MIL) , Berlin (BER), Madrid (MAD), Athens (ATH) and Glasgow (GLA). This route expansion will increase W6’s market share to 41 percent in Hungary.
Furthermore, the airline will add additional aircraft to its fleet. The increase brings W6’s BUD-based fleet to 17 aircraft. The airline was recently named the fastest-growing and most environmentally sustainable budget airline.
