TAP Adds Flights to Los Angeles, Boston 

DALLAS — TAP Air Portugal (TP) announces new seasonal routes from Lisbon (LIS) to Los Angeles (LAX) and from Porto (OPO) to Boston (BOS).

These new US-bound services from Portugal’s flag carrier result from rising passenger demand for direct flights between the the two countries. LIS will be connected to LAX on the West Coast, and OPO will be linked to BOS on the East Coast. 

In addition, TP will launch flights between Terceira (TER) and San Francisco (SFO) by adding a stop to an existing service between LIS and SFO. 

"We are very excited to announce the new flights from Lisbon to Los Angeles and from Porto to Boston, as well as the weekly offer of a direct flight between Terceira and S. Francisco," said Luís Rodrigues, President of TAP.

Flights between LIS and LAX Angeles will commence on May 16, 2025. They will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays until May 26, after which a fourth weekly frequency will be added on Saturdays. This will continue until October 25. The route will be operated with an Airbus A330-900 aircraft, which can seat 298 passengers. 

Flights between Porto and Boston start on May 14 next year. They will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays until October 25. The route will be served by an Airbus A321LR, which can seat 168 passengers.

In addition, from June 3, one of TP’s weekly flights between LIS and SFO will stop in Terceira (TER), enabling TP to offer direct services between the islands of the Azores and California. This flight will serve the sizable Azorean community residing in SFO and will operate on Tuesdays.

Flight Schedule

Lisbon to Los Angeles:

Flights depart from LIS at 09:55 and arrive in LAX at 14:40 the same day, with a flight time of 12 hours and 45 minutes. On the return, flights depart LAX at 16:40 and arrive in LIS at 12:00 the next day. Flight time is 11 hours and 20 minutes. All departure and arrival times are local times.

Porto to Boston:

Flights depart OPO at 18:05 and arrive in BOS at 20:30 the same day, with a flight time of seven hours and 25 minutes. In the opposite direction, flights depart BOS at 23:00 and arrive in LIS at 10:35 the next day. Flight time is six 6 hours and 35 minutes. All departure and arrival times are local times.

TAP currently flies from LIS to seven airports in the United States. This includes New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Boston (BOS), Miami (MIA), Washington DC (IAD), San Francisco (SFO), and Chicago (ORD). TP also flies from OPO to EWR.
