Shanghai Airlines to Launch Casablanca Route

DALLAS — Shanghai Airlines (FM), a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines (MU), will soon offer a new route to Casablanca from Shanghai. The airline will inaugurate the new service on January 19.

The long-haul flight will connect Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) with Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) in Casablanca, with a stopover in Marseille, three times a week: Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. However, the Civil Aviation Administration has approved the airline to operate the route up to five times weekly.

A Boeing 787-9 will be used on the route and configured with 285 seats, including 26 in business class.

In addition to this flight, the airline also operates a Shanghai-Cairo trip, which launched in December 2024 using an Airbus A350-900 jet.

The launch aligns with China Eastern Airlines’ strategic expansion into Africa as Chinese tourism grows. According to airfleets.net, FM has a fleet of 79 Boeing 737s and nine Boeing 787s.
