DALLAS — Fiji Airways (FJ) is charting a plan to expand its reach into the United States with the launch of nonstop flights between Nadi (NAN) and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
The proposed DFW service, currently awaiting US Department of Transportation approval, will be FJ’s strategic expansion eastward within the United States. It complements the carrier's existing North American network, which includes flights to Vancouver (YVR), Honolulu (HNL), Los Angeles (LAX), and San Francisco (SFO).
Once approved, this route will be the longest in Fiji Airways' network. The airline plans to deploy its Airbus A350 aircraft on this route, offering 334 seats. Flights are planned to operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, commencing as soon as all required government approvals are received.
Partnership with American Airlines
In June, FJ announced a partnership with American Airlines (AA) for a unified frequent flyer program. This partnership allows mutual customers to unlock more destinations and travel experiences.
Fiji Airways already operates codeshare flights across the US in partnership with AA, offering passengers connections to numerous destinations such as Albuquerque (ABQ), Atlanta (ATL), Austin (AUS), Boston (BOS), Charlotte (CLT), Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK, EWR), Oklahoma City (OKC), Philadelphia (PHL), Phoenix (PHX), Portland (PDX), and many others.
The new route to DFW which is AA’s' biggest hub, is expected to further extend this relationship. This will surely open doors for onward travel plans within the Americas.
Oneworld Full Membership, Enhanced Connectivity
Fiji Airways will also enhance its global connectivity by becoming a full Oneworld member in 2025. The airline has been an Oneworld Connect partner since 2018 but announced in June that it is taking further association with the alliance to full membership.
The oneworld network includes over 900 destinations in 170 countries. Full membership will offer FJ’s passengers access to hundreds of lounges globally and other privileges and rewards for frequent fliers, such as fast-track security and extra baggage.
