DALLAS — After launching scheduled services to Antananarivo (TNR) in September last year, Dubai-based (DXB) Emirates (EK) reports that its four weekly flights have been operating close to capacity. EK will, therefore, introduce additional flights to the island nation, which is located in the Indian Ocean.
It will increase its scheduled services between DXB and TNR from four to six weekly flights, effective April 2, 2025. Flights to TNR will be operated as tag-on flights to EK’s scheduled Seychelles (SEZ) services.
The expanded schedule between DXB and TNR (via SEZ) will operate daily except Mondays. Flights are operated by Boeing 777 aircraft.
Flight Schedule
- Flight EK707 Departs DXB at 08:55 and arrives in SEZ at 13:55. The aircraft then continues to TNR, departing SEZ at 15:05 and arriving in TNR at 16:50 (the same day).
- Flight EK708 Departs TNR at 18.35 and arrives in SEZ at 22.20. The aircraft then returns to DXB, departing SEZ at 23.50 and arriving in DXB at 04.20 (the next day).
All stated times are local times. Flights are operated six times a week, excluding Mondays.
Boosting Madagascar’s Tourism
These increased frequencies reinforce EK’s commitment to supporting the growth of Madagascar’s tourism industry. The airline says the additional frequencies result from strong demand for passenger services between DXB and TNR.
Emirates will thus boost capacity to TNR to significantly increase airlift and therefore support Madagascar’s efforts to increase visitor arrivals into the country,
Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Emirates’ Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for West Asia and Indian Ocean said, “We are pleased to boost our services to Madagascar by offering two additional flights per week in line with soaring demand for travel since the start of operations. Our growing flight schedule to the island means better connectivity, more choice and convenient options for travellers."
Enhancing services will also strengthen the economic ties between Madagascar and the UAE, by supporting more inbound and outbound leisure and business travel to the island and bolstering trade lanes with additional cargo capacity. As tourism to Madagascar flourishes, local businesses thrive, generating a ripple effect that benefits the local communities."
