BOGOTA — Avianca (AV) has restored commercial air connection between Colombia and Venezuela by launching temporary flights between Bogotá's El Dorado International Airport (BOG) and Arturo Michelena International Airport (VLN) in Valencia.
Following the powerful earthquakes on June 24 on Venezuela’s northern coast, Caracas’ Simón Bolívar International Airport (CCS) in Maiquetía was closed, disrupting commercial air travel in the country.
Avianca supports travelers and rescue efforts
Thanks to support and cooperation from Colombian and Venezuelan authorities, the carrier was able to launch a temporary BGO-VLN operation to support Avianca’s efforts to maintain connectivity in the region and contribute to humanitarian efforts during the ongoing emergency in Venezuela.
Avianca will operate scheduled and charter flights on Airbus A320 aircraft, carrying stranded travelers and rescue workers, medical personnel in coordination with humanitarian organizations, such as the Colombian Red Cross and the Colombian Civil Air Patrol.
To support affected passengers, the airline is offering flexible rebooking options, including:
- Complementary travel date change,
- Alternative routing through Cúcuta or Riohacha,
- Refunds for unused tickets on flights between June 24 and July 15, 2026.
