DALLAS — Boeing and Avia Solutions Group have made an deal for 40 737-8 aircraft and options for 40 more, marking the manufacturer's first MAX order since the end of the IAM union's seven-week-long strike.
With the strike ending, Boeing has restarted its production lines, particularly for the crucial 737 MAX aircraft. This is vital for the company to address its substantial backlog and meet customer demands—and take new orders while they're at it.
The single-aisle Boeing 737-8 is the best selling jet from the MAX series, as it provides exceptional flexibility for both short-haul and medium-range flights. This adaptability is particularly advantageous for ACMI operations, enabling airlines to effectively manage peak seasons and unforeseen operational difficulties.
Brad McMullen, Boeing’s senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing, said,“We’re proud to support Avia Solutions Group in meeting dynamic industry demands.”
McMullen added, “The 737-8 aligns perfectly with their customers’ goals for fuel efficiency and enhanced passenger experience. This order represents not just a business transaction but a vote of confidence in Boeing’s recovery and production capabilities.”
Gediminas Ziemelis, Chairman of Avia Solutions Group, said, “This order marks a milestone in our growth strategyWith our airlines carrying more than 35 million passengers yearly, these new aircraft will help us meet growing seasonal demands.”
According to Ziemelis, the agreement "demonstrates our confidence in Boeing’s ability to deliver despite recent challenges.”
