United Airlines to Fly Boeing 737-8 to Guam

CHICAGO — United Airlines (UA) announced a major investment in Guam, a U.S. island territory in Micronesia, in the Western Pacific, replacing its Boeing 737-800 fleet with ten new Boeing 737-8 aircraft and upgrading the check-in lobby at Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport (GUM).

The first 737-8 will arrive in February 2026, featuring seat-back entertainment at every seat, Bluetooth connectivity, larger overhead bins, Wi-Fi, and more extra-legroom seating. Each aircraft will have 166 seats, including 16 in United First, with accessibility features and high-definition screens offering more than 1,400 free entertainment options in 16 languages. United also plans to introduce Starlink Wi-Fi across its fleet, which will be free for MileagePlus members.

Upgraded Experience

On the ground, UA is revamping its Guam lobby with next-generation check-in kiosks, reducing congestion and cutting check-in times by nearly 20 seconds per passenger. The reconfigured layout is designed to improve efficiency and accessibility, with construction expected to finish by mid-October.

Additionally, from December 1, 2025, through March 27, 2026, United will adjust flights from Saipan to Guam three days a week to allow for same-day connections to Honolulu.

“Guam is more than just a hub for us – it’s a gateway that connects communities across the Pacific and the United States,” said Sam Shinohara, United’s Managing Director of Airport Operations in Asia-Pacific. United, one of the region’s largest private employers, has more than 1,000 staff across Guam and Micronesia and contributes over US$150,000 annually to local nonprofits.
