How Silk Way West Transports from Yaks to Kangaroos

DALLAS — Silk Way West Airlines (7L) has announced the successful delivery of 116 yaks from Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan.

This mission, requested by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Agriculture, aims to boost the breeding program in Kalbajar, underscoring the airline's commitment to sustainable agricultural development.

The yaks, crucial for Azerbaijan's agricultural biodiversity, traveled over 2,000 kilometers aboard a Boeing 747-400F from Bishkek Manas International Airport to Ganja Airport.

The hairy cattle were transported in custom-designed crates ensuring protection from injury and stress, with the aircraft equipped with advanced ventilation and temperature control systems to maintain an optimal environment throughout the journey.

Upon arrival, the yaks were carefully transported by truck to their new homes in the lush pastures of Kalbajar. Here, they will enhance local agricultural practices and contribute to the genetic diversity of the region's livestock.

This collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture underscores our commitment to enhancing local ecosystems and contributing to global sustainability efforts," said Mammadov.

This project aligns with 7L's broader corporate social responsibility goals, which include supporting environmental sustainability and aiding in the development of local communities. Live animal transport operations usually occur when there is a need to move them for reasons such as:

• Zoo Transfers: Transferring kangaroos between zoos for breeding programs, genetic diversity, or exhibition purposes.
• Wildlife Conservation Efforts: Relocating kangaroos to different habitats as part of conservation initiatives.
• Private Requests: Transporting kangaroos for private collectors or animal sanctuaries.

There are other reasons for the transportation of live animal, including:

• Biodiversity and Breeding Programs: To enhance genetic diversity and support breeding programs in zoos and wildlife parks.

This is not the first time 7L transports Yaks. Back in December 2022, the cargo airline safely delivered 100 yaks from Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan as part of a wildlife reintroduction project.
