STOCKHOLM — SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK) has agreed to purchase 45 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, with options to acquire an additional 10 aircraft. This is one of the largest orders the airline has placed since 1996, with a value of approximately US$4 billion, as well as the largest single E2 deal ever signed.
The Embraer jets are acquired for SK's regional airline subsidiary, SAS Link, which has 13 leased E195s, with the most recent aircraft delivered as late as May 2025.
The first aircraft deliveries from the Brazilian manufacturer are expected to begin in late 2027, with deliveries scheduled to be completed within the next four years.
A Good Summer for Embraer
Just last month, SkyWest Airlines (OO) announced a significant order with Embraer for up to 110 E175 regional jets at the 2025 Paris Air Show. Additionally, QantasLink (QF) selected the E190 as the aircraft of choice for a significant fleet upgrade at its regional carrier, and Mexicana (XN) took delivery of its first Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.
Regarding the SK order, the size and range of the E195-E2 complement the existing fleet and route structure of the airline, enabling more frequencies, improved network flexibility, and lower trip costs.

Comments from SAS, Embraer
The president and CEO of SAS, Anko van der Waff, expressed this moment as a defining moment for SAS. “The Embraer E195-E2 is a world-class aircraft, combining outstanding performance with excellent fuel efficiency and comfort. This aircraft is key to enabling future growth and improved connectivity across Scandinavia and beyond. We’ve taken the time to make the right decision — and this major investment reflects our confidence in the future and the strength of the agreement we have secured.”, he added.
Arjan Meijer, President and CEO Embraer Commercial Aviation, says: "We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with SAS through this landmark deal. The E2 is the quietest single aisle jet available today - 29% more fuel efficient and with a 62% reduction in noise footprint over the previous generation jet, the E195-E2 is a game-changer in terms of efficiency, performance, and passenger comfort. We are confident that these aircraft will play a crucial role in SAS's fleet renewal and expansion strategy, supporting their ambitious growth plans and enhancing their operational capabilities."
