SAS Scandinavian Airlines' Copenhagen Global Hub

DALLAS — SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK) has announced an extensive expansion plan to establish a global hub in Scandinavia, starting with Copenhagen (CPH). The Danish capital will see improved network connectivity in the summer of 2025, including the resumption of several previously suspended routes.

SAS will launch 15 new routes from CPH, including reintroducing a long-haul service to Seattle (SEA), which was last operated in 2009. Copenhagen's strategic location will enable SEA passengers to easily connect to European and intercontinental destinations, reinforcing Scandinavia's position as a global travel hub.

The recent addition of SAS to the Sky Team alliance is expected to boost the airline's global presence while positioning Copenhagen (CPH) as a more prominent hub. The city’s strategic location allows it to serve as an efficient gateway for travelers connecting across Northern, Central, and Western Europe.

The new routes introduced for the summer are Krakow (KRK), Madrid (MAD), Budapest (BUD), Lyon (LYS), Valencia (VLC), Malta (MLA), Bucharest (OTP), Milan Linate (LIN), Sevilla (SVQ), Turku (TKU), Billund (BLL), Kristiansand (KRS), Harstad/Narvik (EVE) and Bodø (BOO). Additionally, the airline will increase frequencies to key destinations such as Stockholm (ARN), Oslo (OSL), Prague (PRG), Berlin (BER), and Helsinki (HEL).

SAS will maintain 125 daily departures from Oslo Gardermoen (OSL), connecting to over 60 regional and European destinations. Additionally, the airline will introduce a new seasonal route between Oslo and New York (JFK) starting in the summer of 2025.

Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) will continue operating with over 120 daily departures, serving more than 70 destinations, and remains a crucial hub for European and intercontinental travel. The recently announced partnership with Braathens Regional Airways AB (BRA) will further optimize regional air services.

Scandinavian Airlines is strengthening its global presence through its growing hub network, enhanced connectivity, improved passenger experiences, modern aircraft, and a focus on reducing emissions.
