SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is scheduled to open its final seven Concourse B-east gates on October 27, the last passenger-facing stage of a US$5.1bn redevelopment that began in 2014.
The airport celebrated completion of construction on October 24, ahead of the planned public opening. Five gates are assigned to United Airlines (UA) and two will be common-use gates. The airport puts the completed development at 94 aircraft gates and 101 concessions.
The final addition covers approximately 132,000 square feet (12,300 square meters) and includes six concessions. It follows four Concourse B-east gates that opened in July.

The project replaced three aging terminals with a central terminal and two linear concourses. Its first passenger facilities opened in 2020, with further phases following in 2023 and 2024.
The airport says its single-terminal layout removes duplicated check-in, security and baggage-claim facilities. The Central Tunnel linking Concourses A and B opened in October 2024, making that passenger connection part of an earlier phase rather than a feature arriving with the final gates.
Delta Air Lines (DL), the airport’s largest airline, completed its Concourse A expansion in 2023. United is the named airline recipient of five gates in this final section. The completion announcement does not identify new routes or additional flights tied to those gates.
According to the airport’s project fact sheet, financing combines airport funds, passenger and rental-car facility charges, airport revenue bonds and federal grants. The airport says no local tax dollars are being spent on the redevelopment.
The fact sheet lists capacity for 34 million passengers. That is a facility-capacity figure, rather than a forecast of traffic or an airline growth commitment.
