DALLAS — Qatar Airways (QR) has returned to Rwanda’s capital, Kigali (KGL), after a hiatus of over three years.
The Doha-based (DOH) carrier resumed flights to KGL on Wednesday, June 25. The last time it flew between DOH and KGL was in December 2021. QR will operate four flights a week on this route.
Kigali Flight Schedule:
The carrier will operate this service every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
- Doha to Kigali: Flight QR1389 departs at 08:20 and arrives at 13:30
- Kigali to Doha: Flight QR1390 departs at 15:50 and arrives at 22:50
Flights will be operated with an Airbus A320, featuring 12 flat-bed Business Class seats and 120 Economy Class seats.
Expanding Across Africa
The resumption of QR’s Kigali flights will indeed connect people and goods from the airline’s network of more than 170 global destinations to KGL and elsewhere in Rwanda.
“Africa is a vast, growing, and underserved market. Increasing our network in this vital region underscores our commitment to global connectivity, working in partnership with African states to support the continent’s trade, business, and tourism potential.” Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Thierry Antinori, said.
That said, the addition of Kigali to the network bolsters Qatar Airways’ Africa capacity, which currently averages over 44,000 seats per week. The airline now offers over 170 weekly flights to 30 cities across Africa.
The resumption of this service also marks the continued expansion of the airline’s African operations and its commitment to operating across the continent, providing increased connectivity and choice of destinations via Hamad International Airport.
Over the past year, QR has also optimised its schedule in most African destinations to improve connectivity to key destinations, including Brussels (BRU), Guangzhou (CAN), London (LON), New York (NYC), and Washington (IAD) through its hub in DOH.
