OTTAWA — Porter Airlines (PD) has operated its first flight between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Deer Lake Regional Airport (YDF).
Porter is the only airline offering nonstop flights between the two destinations. This seasonal service, which ends in September, will operate four times a week.
“Connecting Ottawa and Deer Lake provides travelers with an easy and enjoyable option to explore the beauty and culture of eastern Canada. There’s something for everyone,” says Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting, Porter Airlines.
“This new non-stop Ottawa service with Porter Airlines strengthens Western Newfoundland and Labrador’s connectivity at every level. It supports tourism by making our region more accessible to visitors, while also providing residents with efficient options for business travel and visiting family and friends. Importantly, it opens the door to seamless connections across Porter’s expanding network, including direct access to key Western Canadian destinations like Edmonton and Calgary,” said Tammy Priddle, president and CEO, Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority.
Improved connectivity
This new flight also has direct connections to Toronto-City (YTZ), Toronto-Pearson (YYZ), Hamilton (YHM), Calgary (YYC), and Edmonton (YEA), providing various options for summer travelers.
The route also complements Porter’s existing YDF service from Halifax (YHZ) and Toronto (YTO).
“Porter Airlines’ new non-stop service between Ottawa–Gatineau and Deer Lake is an exciting addition to our growing network. As Porter continues to develop YOW as a primary hub, this route blends connectivity with convenience. It links passengers from across Canada and the U.S. to the renowned outdoors of western Newfoundland, including Gros Morne National Park, while also bringing Newfoundlanders to Canada’s Capital Region and beyond,” said Joel Tkach, vice president, business development and marketing, Ottawa International Airport Authority.
This service is being operated with an Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The aircraft seats up to 132 passengers, in a two-by-two configuration.
All of PD's E195-E2 aircraft offer complimentary WiFi to all passengers.
