Porter Airlines (PD)will be the first carrier to operate at the newly named Montréal Metropolitan Airport (MET), which still uses the airport code YHU.
Starting June 15, PD will launch 12 nonstop routes as it adds a second Montréal gateway alongside Montréal–Trudeau (YUL).
Porter said the airport, which was formerly called Saint-Hubert and is located in Longueuil on Montréal’s South Shore, will have a compact terminal designed to make the 'curb-to-gate' process faster. The new terminal is developed and operated by YHU Infrastructure Partners.
Porter’s first schedule at MET/YHU will launch a cross-Canada network in just a few days. Destinations include Québec City (YQB), St. John’s (YYT), Toronto City (YTZ), Toronto Pearson (YYZ), Vancouver (YVR), Edmonton (YEG), Calgary (YYC), Halifax (YHZ), Charlottetown (YYG), Winnipeg (YWG), Moncton (YQM), and Hamilton (YHM).
Several routes, such as YYT, YYG, YWG, and YQM, will be seasonal, with most markets starting between June 15 and June 22.
Aircraft and Montréal capacity expansion
Porter will use its De Havilland Dash 8-400 and Embraer E195-E2 aircraft to serve MET/YHU.
The airline described this as a major summer expansion in Montréal, with a 91% increase in peak summer capacity and up to 244 weekly departures between MET/YHU and YUL.
Montreal Metropolitan Airport, formerly known as Montréal Saint-Hubert - Longueuil Airport or Montréal/Saint-Hubert Airport, and still commonly referred to as St-Hubert Airport, is located in the Saint-Hubert borough of Longueuil, Quebec.
Soon to be in service, MET will connect you to more than 25 destinations, with "a modern terminal just steps from downtown Montréal."
