DALLAS — Today, Oman Air (WY) has announced a further step in its transformation. The flag carrier of Oman has launched a new series of all-Economy Class aircraft.
Consisting of five Boeing 737-8, these aircraft will be primarily operated to the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa, complementing the airline’s existing network. The first aircraft equipped with the all-Economy Class configuration joined WY a few days earlier.

Expectations
Oman Air flies its Boeing 737-8 MAX in a two-class layout, with 12 Business Class and 150 Economy Class seats. The premium cabin is arranged in a 2-2 layout, offering a seat width of 20" and a row pitch of 46.6".
In economy class, the 150 Collins Aerospace Meridians are arranged in the typical 3-3 configuration and equipped with a 10.2” HD touchscreen in-flight-entertainment. Depending on legroom, it is expected that the new fleet will fly at least 168 passengers in a single-class layout.

Comments from Oman Air’s CEO
Con Korfiatis, Oman Air's CEO, said, “The way people travel has evolved, with greater accessibility and choice. At the same time, passengers still want to enjoy a comfortable journey. With this all-Economy fleet, we are adapting to these changing needs, providing our guests with more flexibility and choice without compromising on quality.”
Oman Air’s transformation
In 2023, WY embarked on a three-year financial transformation, with the aim to strengthen its position, optimize its assets, and return to profitability. Since then, the new board has moved in the direction of change, modifying the airline’s fleet, network, and assets.
Oman Air relies on the Boeing 787-9 for its long-haul travel, and on the Boeing 737 MAX for regional connections. On June 30, the airline will officially join the oneworld alliance, consolidating a multi-year journey since the announcement made in June 2022.
The airline expects multiple widebodies and narrowbodies deliveries for 2025 and is planning to introduce several IFE and connectivity upgrades as part of its fleet investment.
The Business Studio
At the end of 2024, WY rebranded its First Class cabin to the “Business Studio”. As the demand shifts away from ultra-premium products, the new cabin allows business travelers to upgrade their hard product to the old First Class cabin, arranged in a 1-2-1 layout.
