DALLAS — Fellow oneworld Alliance members, Malaysia Airlines (MH) and Qantas (QF), have announced a new codeshare partnership, further enhancing connectivity, improving passenger benefits, and delivering a seamless travel experience across Malaysia, Australia, and beyond.
Enhanced Connectivity
Malaysia Airlines will place its ‘MH’ code on 18 QF-operated flights in Australia, from a key international gateway to cities such as Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, and Launceston.
Qantas will place its ‘QF’ code on Malaysia Airlines flights from Kuala Lumpur to major Australian cities - Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. Qantas’ passengers will have access to MH flights to Singapore, as well as several Malaysian destinations, including Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Langkawi, and Penang.
“As one of our oneworld partners in Asia, we’re pleased to deepen our relationship with Malaysia Airlines, making it easier for Qantas customers to travel to Malaysia while enjoying frequent flyer rewards and premium service. Whether it’s a business meeting in Kuala Lumpur, hiking in Borneo, or a beach escape to Langkawi, Malaysia offers something for everyone, and this partnership makes getting there more seamless than ever. It also reflects our commitment to offering more choice and convenience through an expanding network of partner airlines,” said Cam Wallace, CEO, Qantas International.
Malaysia Airlines' Expansion in the Australian Market
New codeshare agreement is a part of MH’s considerable expansion in the Australian market later this year, enhancing connectivity between Malaysia and a number of Australian cities:
- Resuming services to Brisbane starting from 29 November 2025, with five weekly flights.
- Increased services to Melbourne and Sydney to three daily flights starting from 30 October and 31 October 2025, respectively.
- Enhanced frequencies to Perth from 12 to 14 weekly flights starting from 1 December 2025.
- The flight frequency to Adelaide is increasing from five to seven weekly flights, starting from 1 February 2026.
“Our partnership with Qantas marks an important step forward as we strengthen Malaysia Airlines’ presence in Australia, a key market in our long-term strategy. Australia has long been a core part of our network. Our recent investments – including the deployment of the A330neo, increase in flight frequencies, and the resumption of services to Brisbane – reflect our commitment to meeting growing demand while enhancing our premium offering in this market. This partnership supports our broader strategy for sustainable growth, working alongside our partners to deliver a seamless travel experience that puts our passengers at the centre of everything we do,” said Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group.
