Loganair to Open Southampton Airport Base

DALLAS — Loganair (LM) will open a new base in Southampton Airport (SOU) in the South of England later this year.

This will be the tenth airport served by the regional airline - generating employment opportunities and offering improved connectivity for locals. The SOU base allows LM to serve southern mainland and island communities efficiently and will increase the number of seats available through the airline by over 140,000 per year.

Loganair CEO Luke Farajallah said, “We are delighted to be announcing a new base in Southampton, which is a logical and important strategic step. Loganair is very familiar with operations to and from the South Coast, and we feel confident the local market will respond well to our more permanent presence.”

Opening Up New Connections

Two ATR-72 600 aircraft will be stationed at SOU, with the first aircraft arriving in October. Furthermore, LM plans to launch two new routes. From October 26, new routes from SOU to Manchester (MAN) and MAN to Exeter (EXT) have been added to the airline’s schedule.

LM will also increase the capacity of one of its existing services. Due to larger aircraft operating services on this route, capacity between SOU and EDI has also been increased from 49 to 72 passengers.

New routes via MAN to Inverness (INV) and Aberdeen (ABZ) will also become available. The new SOU to MAN route is timed to connect to INV, ABZ, and the Isle of Man (IOM).

This new route also enables convenient onward connections at MAN with partner airlines, including Emirates (EK), Qatar Airways (QR), Turkish Airlines (TK), Singapore Airlines (SQ), and Aer Lingus (EI).
