JetBlue First to Add Venmo to Online Check Out

DALLAS — JetBlue (B6) has announced it is the first airline to accept Venmo as a secure payment option when booking flights on jetblue.com.

The new payment option will be available on the JetBlue mobile app in the coming months, so “U.S. customers can conveniently purchase flights using their Venmo balance or linked bank accounts, debit cards, or credit cards when booking travel.”

“We’re continually looking for ways to make it easier to book a JetBlue flight on our website and mobile app,” said Carol Clements, chief digital and technology officer, JetBlue. “Adding Venmo offers a seamless payment option for customers who enjoy the ease and convenience of the Venmo platform.”

John Anderson, senior vice president and general manager of consumer, PayPal, the owner of Venmo, said, “The added ability to pay with Venmo for flights on JetBlue and manage travel costs during the trip through Groups helps solve the pain points of shared expenses from the time of booking to returning home.”

In related news, SWISS (LX) has enabled Switzerland’s TWINT payment app for customers to pay for their flight tickets. TWNT is simplat to Venmo in that it lets users make convenient and secure payments using their smartphone.

The TWINT payment method is available for LX tickets and additional flight-related services, such as seat reservations from Switzerland, and can be used on both the SWISS app and at swiss.com.
