IndiGo Announces Mumbai-London Nonstop 787-9 Route

MUMBAI — IndiGo (6E) will launch nonstop daily flights between Mumbai (BOM) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR). The flights commence on October 26 and represent a significant milestone in the airline’s global expansion strategy. This service makes London the airline’s second destination in the United Kingdom, following the successful launch of service between BOM and Manchester (MAN) earlier this year.

The flights will be operated daily using IndiGo’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which has been taken on a wet/damp lease from Norse Atlantic Airways (NO). Service will offer a dual-class configuration including Economy Class and IndiGo’s business product, IndiGoStretch. IndiGo will offer complimentary hot meals and beverages inspired by local and global flavors to all customers on this route.

Complimentary alcoholic beverages will be offered to IndiGoStretch customers and can be purchased by customers in the Economy cabin.

All seats feature seatback screens for in-flight entertainment with nearly 300 hours of content.

Bookings are now open across all platforms, including www.goIndiGo.in, the mobile app, and authorized travel partners.

Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said, “Entering Heathrow is both a proud milestone and a strategic step forward in strengthening IndiGo’s global footprint. The India-United Kingdom corridor has long held significant relevance, not only because of strong bilateral ties, but also due to the growing traffic between the two countries. After the outstanding response to our long-haul debut flights to Manchester, we are excited to set foot in London.”

Ross Baker, Heathrow’s Chief Customer Officer, said, “We are pleased to welcome IndiGo’s new daily service between Mumbai and Heathrow. As the UK’s international gateway, this new route will further strengthen the vital ties between the UK and India, creating opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. We look forward to supporting IndiGo’s international growth while offering passengers more choice when travelling between these two world-class cities.”

Gaining Access to Heathrow

Heathrow offers unparalleled global connectivity, making it a critical link for Indian travelers—both business and leisure. The airport's central geographic location serves as a natural gateway to the UK, Europe, and transatlantic routes.

The new service will provide travelers from the west with seamless access to over 90 destinations across IndiGo’s domestic network, as well as many international destinations in South and Southeast Asia, and Central Asia. With Mumbai being the financial capital of India, and London, a leading global financial center, this new, non-stop route will further complement the trade and economic ties between the two countries.

IndiGo states that it is steadily pursuing its ambition of transforming into a global aviation player, contributing to India’s vision of becoming one of the world's top aviation hubs by 2030. IndiGo has added nearly 40 new international destinations since 2015, with almost 20 of those destinations being added in the last three years. It made its long-haul debut in July 2025 with the launch of flights to Manchester and Amsterdam (AMS), and more recently, Copenhagen (CPH). Heathrow is the 45th international destination and 138th overall destination in the airline’s network.
