Icelandair Launches Keflavík-Istanbul Service

DALLAS — Icelandair (FI) has announced Istanbul, in the transcontinental country of Turkey, as its latest route destination. Flights from Keflavík International Airport (KEF) to Istanbul Airport (IST) will operate four times a week from September 5, 2025, with a flight time averaging five hours and 30 minutes.

Following the new route announcement, FI and Turkish Airlines (TK) will further expand their codeshare partnership, which was first announced in summer 2023.

Turkish Airlines is set to coordinate FI's schedule to Istanbul with TK flights to and from Asia and the Middle East. This new connection will reduce the total travel time from the east to Iceland.

Comments from Icelandair CEO

Bogi Nils Bogason, President and CEO of Icelandair, said, “I look forward to adding the great destination of Istanbul to our extensive route network and to further expand the partnership with Turkish Airlines, opening convenient connections between Iceland and the east. In recent years, we have seen increased interest in travel between Asia and Iceland and with these new connections, we are further strengthening our sales and distribution network."

Bogason added, "We are excited to continue reinforcing our route network as well as connecting to exciting markets for our customers and tourism in Iceland.”

Subjects A through C are presented in this first of three volumes. Covering topics such as the airlines of Alaska at the time of statehood and Canada's regional airlines of the 1960s, the individual histories of such carriers as Allegheny, American, Braniff, and Continental are also included in Volume One.
