DALLAS — Last week, Hawaiian Airlines’ (HA) check-in counter and operations at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) have relocated to Harvey Milk Terminal 1, now shared with Alaska Airlines (AS). This move enhances operations and provides guests with a smoother travel experience.
Hawaiian will soon move its bases to Sacramento (SMF), Ontario (ONT), Phoenix (PHX), Las Vegas (LAS), and Los Angeles (LAX). This is the first of six moves.
Although the airlines' individual systems will continue to operate until they implement a single passenger service (PSS) system in 2026, the merging of airport areas is expected to be finished by the end of 2025.
Alaska, Hawaiian Operations at SFO
Alaska Airlines ranks as the second largest carrier at SFO and holds the title of the largest domestic carrier at Harvey Milk Terminal 1. This summer, the airline consolidated its operations to enhance the guest experience, featuring advanced lobby technology and increased access to gates.
Using its Airbus A330 and A321neo aircraft, HA has operated daily flights between SFO and Honolulu and Kahului (Maui), serving the Bay Area's busiest airport since 1986.
According to a HA press release, this December, there will be four daily flights between SFO and Hawaiʻi operated by AS and HA, which together offer a combined network of more than 140 international destinations.
