ATLANTA — With demand for narrowbody aircraft surging worldwide, Delta TechOps in Atlanta has expanded its CFM International LEAP engine portfolio, becoming the first—and only—North American airline MRO provider authorized to support both the CFM LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines.
By adding full overhaul capability for CFM LEAP-1A engines, Delta TechOps is further solidifying its role as a global leader in maintaining next-generation engines that power the world’s most advanced narrowbody fleets.
“With LEAP engines now representing a significant and fast-growing share of the global narrowbody fleet, adding full capability on both 1A and 1B models positions Delta TechOps squarely at the center of where the market is headed," said Alain Bellemare, executive vice president of International and newly appointed chairman of Delta TechOps.
"This milestone strengthens Delta TechOps’ global relevance and positions us as a trusted, operator-backed MRO partner in a market that will define commercial aviation for decades."
Trusted expertise for the LEAP fleet
Delta TechOps is one of a few select CFM Premier MRO providers for the LEAP engine family — a distinction that reflects CFM’s confidence in TechOps’ technical depth and consistent performance. StandardAero, and MTU Maintenance Dallas are other providers in North America.
“Both CFM and Delta are deeply committed to an innovative and open MRO ecosystem,” said Gaël Méheust, president and CEO of CFM International. “Delta was one of our first and remains one of our biggest customers, and we are forever linked in history. Today’s agreement strengthens that relationship even further.”
In 2022, Delta TechOps became the first North American MRO named a CFM Premier MRO provider for LEAP-1B engines. As a member of this elite global network, Delta delivers high-quality solutions grounded in the precision, consistency, and operational rigor required for today’s most advanced narrowbody engines.

The CMF LEAP engine
CFM LEAP engines power the Airbus A320neo family (LEAP-1A) and are the exclusive powerplant for the Boeing 737-10 (LEAP-1B). Delta Air Lines (DL) has ordered 100 of the aircraft, with deliveries set to begin after certification.
“As the LEAP fleet grows, operators need more options and Delta is ready to help meet that demand with capability across both LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines,” said Marc Meredith, chief commercial officer for Delta TechOps. “Delta technicians are the best in the business. The unmatched care they show for our airplanes is exactly what our customers can expect — quality and performance operators need to keep aircraft flying.”
The global LEAP fleet continues to grow, surpassing 95 million flight hours and 41 million cycles while supporting more than 150 customers. As of February 2026, more than 8,000 installed and spare LEAP engines have been delivered.
A strong partnership
Delta and CFM share a long history of innovation and collaboration, rooted in a shared commitment to powering the industry’s most reliable fleets. For more than 40 years, Delta TechOps has maintained and operated CFM engines for its own fleet and dozens of global customers, developing deep technical expertise through real-world performance and sustained investment.
That partnership strengthened as the industry transitioned from the CFM56—the most successful commercial jet engine in history—to the LEAP family. Delta TechOps’ early role in LEAP support, from on-wing services to component repair and now full overhaul capability for both LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines, reflects the trust and long-term alignment between the two companies.
Delta TechOps is the largest MRO in North America and one of the most experienced worldwide, supporting more than 150 operators. With 25 years of experience across engine, component, and airframe maintenance, TechOps employs thousands of aviation professionals dedicated to delivering industry-leading performance and innovation.
