Cathay Pacific Returns to Rome This Summer

DALLAS — Cathay Pacific (CX) has announced its return to the Italian capital, Rome, in the Summer of 2025. The direct flight between Hong Kong (HKG) and Rome (FCO) will commence on 5 June 2025 and operate three times a week.

This makes Rome the 12th European destination and the second Italian destination in its network. Currently, CX operates five return flights per week to Milan (MXP), and it will increase its frequency to daily this summer.

The Rome service will be operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, which have 38 business class, 28 premium economy, and 214 economy class seats. Flight CX293 is scheduled to depart from HKG at 00:45 and reach FCO at 07:50.

The return flight, CX292, will depart from FCO at 11:45 and arrive at HKG at 05:20 the next day. The flights are scheduled to operate every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, subject to change and regulatory approval.

Cathay Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau expressed great delight in the flight's return. As the Italian capital and Vatican City celebrate the 2025 Year of Jubilee, the airline anticipates catering to customers traveling for business, leisure, or Jubilee-related events.

New Destinations for 2025

Cathay Group aims to expand its network this year and strengthen Hong Kong’s status as an international aviation hub. The Group has announced six new destinations for this year and will soon announce more.

In addition to FCO, CX will launch direct flights to Hyderabad (HYD) in March, Dallas (DFW) in April, Munich (MUC) in June, and Brussels (BRU) in August.

Meanwhile, the Group’s low-cost carrier, HK Express (UO), will launch direct flights to Sendai (SDJ) in January. The two airlines expect to serve 100 destinations worldwide by 2025.
