Buraq Air Signs MoU for 10 A320neo Family Jets

DUBAI — Libyan carrier Buraq Air (UZ) signs a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Day 3 of the 2025 Dubai Air Show for 10 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, its first direct order with Airbus.

“This agreement represents a significant step forward for Buraq Air as we continue to modernise our fleet and serve more destinations. The A320neo’s efficiency and flexibility will not only be central to strengthening our core network but will also provide a seamless platform for Medsky Airways, our key strategic partner, to jointly enhance passenger offering across both our carriers,” said Fouzi Almiqalh, President of Buraq Air.

Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President Sales of the Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, continued, “We are delighted to welcome Buraq Air as a new Airbus customer of the A320 Family, and we thank them for their confidence. This agreement reinforces the A320neo as the aircraft of choice for fleet modernization, and we are dedicated to supporting Buraq’s Air strategic expansion plan.”

As of the end of October 2025, the A320neo Family has won over 11,300 orders from 150 customers worldwide.

The Tripoli-based carrier was founded in 2000 and commenced operations the following year. It was Libya’s first privately owned airline.

The airline’s fleet currently consists of 3 Airbus A320s, former Cebu Pacific (5J) jets on lease from Aircraft Finance Germany and delivered earlier this year. They also operate a sole Boeing 737-800 delivered new to them in 2006, and an Embraer 190AR in a VIP configuration, delivered second-hand just last week.
