BOC Aviation Sells Four Boeing 777-300ER to Thai Airways

DALLAS — BOC Aviation recently announced a significant transaction with Thai Airways International (TG), involving the sales of four Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

This transaction is part of BOC Aviation’s Qualified Aircraft Leasing Activity and is expected to close in 2025, this according to a release by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited and The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.

Based in Singapore, BOC Aviation Limited is a leading global aircraft operating leasing company. As of December 31, 2024, the company had 709 aircraft and engines managed, owned, or on order.

Thai Airways International is Thailand's national carrier. It was founded in March 1960 as Thai International. Subsequently, it merged with Thai Airways Company to form the current Thai Airways International in 1988.

The Thai carrier, a founding Star Alliance member, operates to over 50 international and 10 domestic destinations. Its fleet consists of 78 aircraft, a mixture of Boeing and Airbus. As of March 2025, the airline had over 90 aircraft on order and plans to expand its fleet to over 140 aircraft by 2029.

Thai Airways International has been a loyal customer of the Boeing 777 aircraft, having operated the Boeing 777 since 1996 and the Boeing 777-300ER variant since 2010. TG previously leased 5 Boeing 777-300ER from Jet Airways before receiving their brand-new ones in 2012.

Thai Airways currently operates 17 units of the Boeing 777-300ER, three of which were recently delivered in 2022. They sport the company’s newer interior and a first-class cabin. The newer Boeing 777-300ER is configured with 303 seats: eight in first class, 40 in business class, and 255 in economy class.

The older units of the Boeing 777-300ER, delivered between 2012 and 2015, have 348 seats, 42 in business class and 306 in economy class.
