Avolon to Equip 50 More A320neo with Leap Engines

DUBAI — Avolon has ordered 100 CFM LEAP-1A engines for its brand new Airbus A320neo family aircraft. Avolon, one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, has been a CFM customer for over 15 years.

Today, the lessor already manages a fleet of 99 Airbus A320neo family aircraft powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines and has 163 more aircraft on order.

“Our sustained partnership with CFM International underpins Avolon's strategy to reduce emissions and support the demand we see from our airline customers' growth and replacement needs through 2030 and beyond," said Andy Cronin, CEO of Avolon.

"We are honored by Avolon's continued confidence in our LEAP engine technology. This order reflects the strength of our long-standing partnership and our commitment to delivering world-class products that meet the needs of our airline customers for efficiency, reliability and lower emissions in their operations," said Gaël Méheust, President and CEO of CFM International.

The CFM LEAP

With over 4,000 aircraft already delivered, CFM LEAP engines have experienced the fastest growth in commercial aviation history.

LEAP engines feature innovative technologies, including composite fan blades and ceramic matrix composites.

Compared to older CFM56 engines, LEAP delivers a 15% increase in fuel efficiency and a 15% reduction in carbon emissions.

Thanks to the advanced health monitoring system and the open MRO ecosystem, brand-new LEAPs offer outstanding reliability and high asset utilisation for narrowbody aircraft.
