Asiana Airlines to Retire Boeing 767 in March 2025

DALLAS — Asiana Airlines (OZ) has updated its domestic schedule for the Northern Summer 2025 season, signaling the end of an era for its Boeing 767-300 operations.

Asiana is a full-service South Korean airline and a Star Alliance member. Korean Air (KE) owns 63.88% of the airline and completed the acquisition on December 12, 2024.

Korean Air aims to complete the integration with OZ within two years. The strategy includes network optimization, service expansion, and enhanced safety investments.

While no fleet upgrades were mentioned, the retirement of the 767 is not uncommon. American Airlines (AA) completely withdrew its 767 fleet by March 2020.

According to aeroroutes.com, OZ’s last scheduled 767 service will occur on March 29, 2025, operating on the Seoul Gimpo (GMP)—Jeju (CJU) route.

Transition to Airbus A330-300

Following the retirement of the Boeing 767, OZ will introduce the Airbus A330-300 on the Gimpo–Jeju route, reducing the frequency to two daily round-trip flights starting March 30, 2025. The new schedule is as follows:

End of an Era

The Boeing 767 has been a key part of OZ’s domestic and international operations for decades. Its phase-out aligns with the airline's ongoing fleet modernization strategy, which includes transitioning to more fuel-efficient aircraft such as the Airbus A330.

Passengers traveling on the Seoul Gimpo–Jeju route can expect an upgraded experience aboard the A330-300, which offers enhanced comfort and capacity. For further details and bookings, passengers should check the airline’s website or contact customer service.

While many airlines have retired their Boeing 767s, as of 2024, over 20 airlines still operate them for passenger services. Some major operators, such as Delta Air Lines (DL) and United Airlines (UA), plan to retire their fleets by 2030.
