Arajet Launches New York-Dominican Republic Route

New York — Dominican Republic flag carrier Arajet (DM) has expanded its U.S. presence by launching flights from New York Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Las Américas Santo Domingo Airport (SDQ).

The new route will start operations on June 16. It will serve as a vital connection between the Dominican Republic and the New York metropolitan area, home to the Dominican diaspora's largest community.

“Arajet is committed to making air travel accessible and affordable for the Dominican community and American tourists alike, and New York is a key market to strengthen our U.S. presence,” said Victor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet. “The Newark service will complement routes between the DR, Miami, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, to establish Arajet as a carrier of choice for U.S. travelers booking vacations and getaways as well as visiting friends and family. We look forward to welcoming travelers with the convenience, affordability, and exceptional service Arajet is known for.”

New York City Launch

Arajet announced the Gregorio Luperón school in Washington Heights, a community with a large Dominican population, along with the New York congressman of Dominican origin, Adriano Espaillat, as well as the Dominican consuls, Jesús Vázquez and José Santana, from New York and New Jersey respectively.

Once in Santo Domingo, travelers can explore the country's offerings or easily fly to 24 destinations. EWR will be the perfect gateway into the New York region for its central location, excellent connections to public transportation, and proximity to Manhattan. Flights will begin on June 16.

Passengers can expect flexible fare options and the ability to tailor their travel experience with additional perks like extra legroom, checked bags, and priority boarding.

Since beginning operations in 2022, DM has operated two bases, SDQ in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), with a new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft fleet. The airline provides service to and between the Dominican Republic and various destinations in North, Central, South, and Caribbean.
