DALLAS — Alaska Airlines (AS), utilizing the fleet of its subsidiary Hawaiian Airlines (HA), is set to introduce new nonstop flights between Seattle and Seoul, the capital of South Korea. The initial announcement of these flights was made in December 2024, with the official launch date set for September 12, 2025.
The newly introduced flights between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Incheon International Airport (ICN) will enhance connectivity between South Korea and the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. In addition to serving as a hub for Alaska Airlines, Seattle will become a global gateway for the U.S. West Coast. Alaska Airlines' hub is the largest on the West Coast, offering 104 nonstop routes across North America.
Starting September 12, 2025, flights will be operated using the Airbus A330-200, a long-haul widebody aircraft from Hawaiian Airlines’ fleet, which perfectly complements Alaska Airlines’ operations. Tickets for these flights are now available on hawaiianairlines.com and alaskaair.com.
Alaska Airlines is making major moves. By 2030, it plans to serve at least 12 international nonstop destinations from its Seattle hub, including Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Narita. These flights will be operated using Hawaiian Airlines' widebody aircraft. Some of these routes are launching soon, with daily flights between Seattle and Tokyo Narita starting on May 12.
Interestingly, the new nonstop service to Seoul will begin just before Chuseok, also known globally as Korean Thanksgiving Day. This year, Chuseok falls in early October, allowing Alaska Airlines to provide travelers with a convenient and comfortable way to reunite with family and friends in South Korea for the holiday. In addition to the Airbus A330-200, Hawaiian Airlines will soon operate the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the ICN route.
