MONTRÉAL — From 2029, Air Canada’s (AC) fleet of Boeing 777 and 787 jets will be retrofitted with the new Golden Hearted cabins, including the new “Signature Plus Suite” in the first row.
The refurbishment was confirmed today by Senior Director of Sales, Asia Pacific, Kiyo Weiss, during a media event celebrating a decade of the carrier's service to Brisbane (BNE).
“Our 777 and 787 aircraft will be refurbished, but it will not happen until 2029, so the existing markets with those services will have to wait for a little bit,” Weiss said.
The Golden Hearted cabins were announced in April at the 2026 Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, set to debut on the new A321XLR and 787-10, both new models to AC from this year. The cabin’s design focuses on a new visual style and color palette, with natural Canadian finishes of wood, stone, and leather, tied together with deep red and bronze accents. The passenger experience has also seen upgrades with USB-C and AC outlets, tablet holders, larger overhead bins, and Bluetooth 4K OLED screens at every seat.
The Golden Hearted cabins have already made their way onto the Airbus A321XLR, entering service next week, as well as a handful of A321ceo jets. Various mainline cabin upgrade programs are in progress on the current A320 and A321 fleets, while regional subsidiary Jazz (QK) is also moving forward with refurbishments on the CRJ-900, E175, and Dash 8-400, and Rouge (RV) is exchanging premium capacity for that in economy as the 737-8 fleet transfers over from mainline.
Air Canada’s widebody fleet currently consists of seven Boeing 777-200LRs, 19 777-300ERs, 8 787-8s, 32 787-9s, and 20 Airbus A330-300s. 14 Boeing 787-10s are expected between this year and 2030, as well as eight Airbus A350-1000s from 2030.
