Frontier Airlines Connects Miami and Montego Bay

Dallas - Frontier Airlines (F9) today launched a new service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Montego Bay Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Jamaica with Airways in attendance.

The service by F9, operating three times weekly, complements the existing American Airlines (AA) service between MIA and MBJ, bringing competition to the market.

Betting on Jamaica!

Ken Byatt, the Deputy Director of MIA, hailed the resiliency of F9 for "maintaining Miami service throughout the pandemic" while taking their route network to new heights."

Oliver Mair, the Consul General of Jamaica in Miami, after reminiscing about Air Jamaica, described Jamaica as "big business" saying that "prior to Covid, Jamaica was enjoying its highest levels of arrivals at 4.2 million."

Donnie Dawson of the Jamaica Tourist Board, saying Jamaica will "sell itself" to tourists, expressed excitement for the route while wishing wishing that F9 "was flying from Denver to Montego Bay."

F9 representative Michael Pewther described the airline as "bullish on Jamaica," bringing "low-fare relief from Miami and the US to Jamaica as a well as [for] Jamaicans coming to the US."

Time for Boarding!

Following a ceremonial ribbon cutting it was time for boarding amid a lively mix of festivities including a live Jamaican music performance!

Frontier flight 51, operated by an Airbus A320neo registered as N371FR, then departed for MBJ from gate G14, heralding a new era of Jamaica service at MIA.

The airline has steadily been building a strong presence at MIA since 2014, focusing not only on domestic service but particularly on Latin American and Caribbean service amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with new routes to St. Thomas (STT), Guatemala City (GUA), and San Salvador (SAL) among others having recently launched.
