DALLAS — Less than three months after the aircraft agreement was signed, LOT Polish Airlines (LO) has received its first Embraer E195-E2.
The E195-E2, which is far quieter than its nearest rival aircraft and has a fuel burn and emissions reduction of 12.5% is the first of three aircraft that should be delivered by October 2024.
LOT became the first operator of the new E-Jets 20 years ago. On March 17, 2004, the Embraer E-170 concluded the first-ever revenue trip from the capital of Poland to Vienna.
The success of Embraer's new aircraft family began with the 85-minute, 520-kilometer trip to Vienna; in May of this year, an E195-E2, the 1800th E-Jet in the program, was delivered to a customer.
comments from LOT, Embraer Executives
Michał Fijoł, President of the Management Board of LOT Polish Airlines, stated that the new Embraer arrivals would enable them to increase the frequency of flights to selected European cities, offering passengers a high level of comfort in the latest generation fleet. He added that the introduction of new, low-emission aircraft was also part of implementing their "Destination ECO" strategy.
Fijoł noted that LOT Polish Airlines was one of the largest Embraer operators in Europe and expressed happiness in welcoming further state-of-the-art aircraft, inviting passengers to travel together.
Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, welcomed LO as the 17th E2 operator, remarking that it had been 20 years since they inducted their first E170 as the global launch customer for the E-jets. He pointed out that in the last two years, the number of E2 operators had almost doubled (88%).
Meijer expressed pride in being able to deliver these jets quickly, along with their leasing colleagues at Azorra, to meet the customer's needs. The CEO concluded by stating that they looked forward to their continued partnership with LO, including new opportunities for the E2, which he described as the most fuel-efficient, quietest, and least costly jet to operate in the small narrow-body segment.
