MIAMI – Wizz Air (W6) has today revealed that Italy’s third largest city Naples (NAP) will become its sixth Italian base from August 2021. Two Airbus A321 are to be stationed at the NAP, offering links to 18 international and domestic destinations.

These new routes to Milan (LIN), Olbia, Lampedusa, Verona, Turin, Santorini, Chania, Mykonos, Ibiza, Fuerteventura, Tenerife, London (LTN), Prague, Tallinn, Reykjavik, Tel Aviv, Casablanca, and Sharm el-Sheik will be added to the eight already operated. Three of the new links – Tallinn, Reykjavik, and Fuerteventura – are currently unserved from the airport.

Comments from Wizz Air

Speaking at a press conference held at the Italian city, George Michalopoulos, W6 Chief Commercial Officer said, “I am delighted to announce Wizz Air’s newest base at Naples International Airport and the quadrupling of our capacity at the airport”

“It is a further testament to the airline’s firm plan to establishing itself as the most trusted and sustainable player among Italy’s top 3 airlines. It is a true honour to serve Italy’s third biggest city and support the ramp up of the local economy and the tourism sector.”

A Long-standing Presence in Italy

Wizz Air has served Italy since 2004. It has opened bases in Milan (MXP), Catania, Palermo, Bari and Rome (FCO). Over 40 million passengers have since been carried across over 200 routes.

Naples becomes W6’s 44th base as the carrier, founded in September 2003, continues to buck the downturn in the industry following the COVID-19 pandemic.
