MIAMI — Emirates ferried its 50th Airbus A380 home to Dubai on Wednesday.
The Dubai-based mega carrier is the largest operator of the A380, and it’s not stopping with 50. It still has 90 more of the super-jumbo on order.
Tim Clark, Emirates’ president, said that the “A380 is very successful for us, and this is reflected in the strong customer interest and high seat factors.”
He added that the airplane has helped significantly to drive capacity into slot restricted airports as well as to provide the high quality passenger experience the carrier has become known for.
The delivery flight was loaded with 41 tons of relief good to support UN humanitarian work in the region.
To date, more than 130 A380s have been built with approximately 125 of those in commercial service with 11 different operators.
