MIAMI — Allegiant will be expanding service to Florida, adding five new routes in November. The announcement was made on Tuesday.
The ultra-low-cost carrier will add service to St. Petersburg-Clearwater International from: Belleville, IL: Wed & Sat beginning Nov. 19; Bloomington, IL: Mon & Fri beginning Nov. 21; Concord, NC: Sun & Thurs beginning Nov. 13
from Orland Sanford International to:
Peoria, IL: Mon & Fri beginning Nov. 14 (misc Tues/Thurs/Sat also available)
from Punta Gorda Airport to:
Huntington, WV: Sun & Thurs beginning Nov. 20
All destinations already serve at least one other Floridian route, typically to the carrier’s Orlando Sanford focus city.
The carrier has been expanding steadily in 2014, announcing dozens of new flights from LAX-Great Falls, MT to Myrtle Beach to Syracuse. In particular it has expanded in the recently dormant Cincinnati CVG airport, growing to seven new routes since 2013.
Related, Frontier recently announced it would be expanding its own Floridian operations, launching ten new routes only two weeks ago. Allegiant and Frontier’s new offerings will not directly compete, though both will offer flights to Florida
