This month, we pay tribute and say good-bye to one of the world’s most iconic, elegant and robust airliners – the McDonnel Douglas MD-11.

Even though the last passenger flight was operated by KLM, Airways has chosen to honor the slick lines, shape, silhouette, and vortex-generating capabilities of the “eleven” by placing this breathtaking twilight photo on the cover. This masterpiece, which reflects the headline of its own feature, was captured by our Staff Photographer, Tim de Groot.
