MIAMI β€” Airbus continues to make changes to its C-Suite with the appointment of former ATR CEO, Christian Scherer, as its new Chief Commercial Officer.

Scherer had been at the helm of ATR since October 2016. He is now taking over the role of CCO at Airbus with immediate effect, reporting directly to CEO Tom Enders.

Departing CCO, Eric Schulz, is leaving due to personal reasons only a few months after taking over from John Leahy.

“We regret Eric Schulz’s decision,” Tom Enders said. “We wish him all the best for his future.”

The Airbus CEO said thatΒ Scherer is “one of our most customer-focused leaders at the commercial helm of Airbus.”

Scherer started his career at Airbus in 1984 and has been the Head of Contracts, Leasing Markets as well as Deputy Head of Sales and Head of Strategy and Future Programs.

“Over his various assignments I greatly valued his international mind-set, his strategic vision, and tremendous commercial expertise,” added Enders of the new CCO.

He has also headed the Marketing and Sales department at Airbus’ Defense and Space department.
