MIAMI — Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCA) has launched a new cabin concept for its SuperJet SSJ100, designed to fly professional sports teams.
The new cabin concept named SportJet, is the third cabin variant of the SSJ100, which currently features a passenger cabin and a business jet configuration. According to the experts at Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, sports air transportation market now exceeds USD 600 million per year.
SportJet by Sukhoi is based on scientific and practical research in the field of sports, such as the impact of flights, jet lag, hypoxia, dehydration, stress on the body and aerophobia that affect professional athletes from various sports.
The layout of SportJet by Sukhoi will feature four functional zones: the flight zone of the first team, equipped with “smart seats” that allow not only to rest comfortably, but also to continuously monitor the body condition of the sportsperson.
The recovery zone will include a “AeroScan” diagnostic capsule, which gives comprehensive info on all the athlete’s physiological indicators. Additionally, the cabin offers space to Athletes to train and warm up during the flight, and even it may be converted to transport injured athletes if required.
Coaching and administrative zones have also been devised in the concept.
“Today, to achieve the best results you need new technology and approaches, including those that increase the flight quality and, hence, the physique and morale of athletes,” said Sukhoi Civil Aircraft’s senior vice president of commerce, Evgeny Andrachnikov. “We are sure that flights for professional sports teams on SportJets will eventually become an integral part of the air transportation market.” He added.
SCA expects to certify the cabin by 2018, coinciding with Russia’s FIFA World Cup tournament, and two years ahead of the XXXII Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
