LONDON – At 9:00 am EDT an Emirates Airbus A380 inbound to John F. Kennedy international from Dubai was quarantined after a number of passengers became ill during the flight.
Initial reports from local media had stated as many as 100 passengers of the 500 on board had become ill.
However, a spokeswoman has recently confirmed that the number of ill passengers is lower than it was believed to be, with only about 10 of the passengers becoming ill.
The aircraft used for the flight was A6-EUF which was delivered in October 2016 it is only 2.4 years old and had earlier this week operated the same flight from Dubai to JFK.
The spokeswoman said: “Emirates can confirm that about 10 passengers on board flight EK203 from Dubai to New York were taken ill.
On arrival at JFK, as a precaution, they were immediately checked by local health authorities and those needing medical attention will be attended to.”

However, neither have currently provided any comments on the matter and according to a report from Reuters, the mayor’s office has declined to answer or comment on the matter.
One passenger had taken to Twitter to document the events as they unfolded when he uploaded photos of the plane being surrounded by local authorities as they set up the quarantine.
In the last 10 minutes, the same passenger had tweeted that he and the other passengers were now through customs and on their way home.
