MIAMI – American Airlines (AA) signed a firm order for ten additional Embraer E175 jets valued at US$ 457 million.

Back in December 2013, AA made its first post-bankruptcy era order for 60 Embraer E175 jets, with options for 90 more, at a value of US$ 182 million. Later in April 2017, the carrier signed an additional order for four E175s.

“The E175 has proven to be the right solution for American. This repeat order demonstrates the confidence that the airline has in Embraer and in the E175,” said Charlie Hillis, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, North America, Embraer Commercial Aviation.

Now, American Airlines has a total of 74 E175s in order and is exercising its purchase rights from the 2013 agreement. Aircraft deliveries are expected to begin in 2018 and continue through mid-2019.

Envoy, an American Airlines subsidiary, will operate the ten new aircraft, each seating 76 customers: 12 in First Class, 20 in Main Cabin Extra, and 44 in Main Cabin.

According to Embraer, with this new contract, the Brazilian manufacturer has sold more than 390 E175 jets to airlines in North America since January 2013, earning more than 80% of all orders

The E-Jets family has received more than 1,800 orders, and over 1,300 aircraft have been delivered to 70 customers in 50 countries.
